Restrictions on crop movements and marketing

In the past the Egyptian government issued some regulations regarding crop movements and marketing. Accordingly the movement of cereal grains between the various governorates was restricted and needed transport permission from the authorities concerned. At the same time the producers and farmers were obliged to sell their produces to agricultural co-operatives and the PBDAC. At present this system is cancelled, and the producers of wheat and maize are free in moving and selling their produces following the privatization policy to private traders or the public sector organisations.
