The quality standard of cereal grains and pulses traded on the public sector and private sector with some exceptions is poor. An effective public quality control for grains does not exist. Also monitoring of local or imported grain quality does not exist.
Ecological disturbance like pest resurgence, pest resistance and outbreaks of secondary pests due to overuse or one-sided use of pesticides are apparent in Egypt. Complaints of fumigation failures are reported following phosphine fumigations in the shounas of PBDAC.
